Job Title: Procurement Buyer
Duration: 12 Months
Location: White Plains, NY
Schedule: Hybrid – minimum of 3 days onsite
Note: Candidates must be local to the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT).
ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for a Procurement Buyer role.
Project Overview
This role will support Strategic Supply Management and will be responsible for performing procurement duties/functions to assist the IT Category in reviewing and handling upcoming Software Maintenance renewals. Areas of support may also include Legal and Cyber Security.
Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Review upcoming software maintenance expirations, determine business needs, propose renewal terms, and execute new Agreements/Purchase Orders
- Ensure all contract documents are in compliance with NYPA, Canal Corporation, and New York State guidelines
- Process change orders as necessary
- Prepare purchase orders as requested
- Post documents to the NY State Contract Reporter as required
- Attend project meetings, including onsite meetings, as necessary
- Maintain diligent and thorough recordkeeping
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Preparing RFPs for NYPA, including bid documents, price inquiries, and addendums
- Identifying potential vendors, including MWBE, MBE, and SDVOB vendors for solicitation
- Developing required contract documents based on RFP results
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge and experience with SAP and Ariba
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office / Outlook
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to analyze data and determine appropriate actions
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a government/utility, highly regulated environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Knowledge of New York State procurement processes
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field
OR minimum of 2 years of military experience in logistics - At least 1 year of procurement or related experience, preferably with a focus on IT software licensing and maintenance contracts
